Introduction
Nice to meet you, call me Kris
My name is Krisztian Nagy. I’m originally from Budapest, Hungary, but I live in London, UK since 2012. I’m currently a Lead Product Designer, helping companies achieve a consistent look and user-centred design approach while achieving their business KPIs.
How I ended up becoming a designer
I was extremely entrepreneurial from childhood. Originally I learned to code (Basic, Turbo Pascal, Java), but after I discovered the Internet, I saw so many possibilities that I knew I had to go in that direction. I quickly picked up HTML, then CSS, but as a student, I had no money to hire a designer, so I learned it and realised that I have way more passion for Design than coding. After I finished my A levels, I went to a Multimedia Design and Development school but never stopped learning ever since.
Loving the UK life
I moved to the UK in 2012, co-founded a music-based micro-affiliating startup called Fametune, and brought it from concept to public beta in a matter of 9 months, leading a team of 10, until I was ousted in 2013. Then worked for over a year as a designer/developer at an award-winning London design studio. This led to an offer to become Director of Design at a $2M French-owned agency, where I managed tens of projects over the course of 18 months. In November 2015, I teamed up with some of the brightest minds to form a Creative Agency. We have worked for such clients as Bombardier (UK), KeyBank (USA), MBS Source (USA) to name a few. Brexit dissolved the partnership in 2018, but I decided to stay and took on the Lead UX / Lead Product roles at various exciting startups.
Experience
Career Analytics
In the first few months of 2021, I got the chance to shape the User Experience and User Interface of the Product from the early stages of development. Created a design system, ran workshops and user testing sessions to learn about the perception of the product, explored monetization opportunities and managed a complete rebranding of the platform, conversion optimised their landing page while implementing the 4 key narratives that we identified during our research.
Plotagonist
Turning a dream true, creating design system and an agile / scrum based methodology into an app for writers. From ideation through countless user interviews, documentation to leading the development efforts, this project is a real lovechild. Releasing early July on the app stores for phone, tablet and desktop.
Evolve
I have joined this fantastic company to bootstrap a product that aims to disrupt the recruitment industry. We have evaluated a myriad of different ideas and elements and quickly iterated on different features of the product to see what would be the people’s choice on where the industry should be heading.
WeShop
As the Lead UX/UI designer, I was responsible for creating and maintaining a design system, continuously improving the user experience and the user interface and introducing new feature concepts. The role included both qualitative and quantitative user testing as well.
Ten Senses
Co-founded this company in July 2016. Given the chance to design my first physical product we have made it from idea to market by early November without any external investment. I designed and developed everything including the whole branding, packaging, created the first prototypes and led the product to the stage it started trading and broke even.
Line Above
Worked on numerous projects for a number of UK based & international clients, including the overhaul of a major US trading platform and numerous design project for clients ranging from startups to large corporates including Bombardier, Keybank US and many others. On occasion I was sublet to companies that needed an in-house presence of a Lead Designer, See some of them below.
Gaydar
I was hired to help with the overhaul of the UX and UI of the Gaydar iOS app and to create a new, responsive web layout with conversion optimisation using only a skeleton team. The project was a great success and finished in a matter of 4 months.
TES
I was initially hired to create a new email design system consistent with the rebranding of the company and to develop the templates. After I identified a larger problem in their email authoring processes and pitching a possible solution, they extended my initial 6 weeks contract to bootstrap a collaborative email authoring platform that produced bulletproof email source code they were able to use with salesforce.
Tom Internet
Leading a team of 10 designers, I was responsible for giving a new life to the fleet of consumer websites this French company managed. Creating new experiences, setting up a design system culture, A/B testing on the main consumer sites or even creating new minisites for marketing campaigns, communicating and helping the dev team on demand, meeting new clients at international fairs were all within the scope of my job.
Moot Design
I was developing b2c and b2b responsive websites and mobile applications / interactive presentations for the company’s clients while also taking part in the design efforts.
Fametune
I had the chance to lead my vision to its public beta phase at the earliest stages of my UK career. Led 3 designers, and 7 remote developers from concept to reality in only 11 months while also pitching for the company at various events.
Freelance
Over 4 years I took on hundreds of branding and web design projects that I also coded onto the client’s chosen CMS (Joomla, WordPress and Drupal).
Aix Fotostudio
Started as a web designer, then led a team of developers building sites and new marketing tools for the company. In a short time, I made my way up to the role of Promotion Office Chief, while kept designing new tools and site layouts for the company’s huge website network. They were acquired by Tom Internet in 2011, they are returning clients to date.
London Technologies
Teamed up with a few investors to create oPlay.eu, a P2P skill gaming site for the Hungarian market. Did a successful exit in 2007 when the company was acquired by Skill7.
Education
SZÁMALK - Multimedia Designer / Developer
Learnt design, Actionscript and Javascript programming. My graduation work was a 10 levels flash game, a parallax point and shoot, titled Cowmageddon, which I designed and coded from scratch.

Krisz is… totally impossible to put into 1 box! I was working with Krisz whilst I was CMO at WeShop – a retail tech startup in London with £4m funding. It was a small team and everyone needed to work across roles and functions. Krisz was able to take that to a different level thanks to his broad skill set. I had the pleasure of working with Krisz on the WeShop MVP. During the course of the 6 months, I spent on the project Krisz showed not just brilliant skills in design and UX but also excelled himself as wearing the product manager hat during the time when the position was unfilled.
He channelled flux of feature requests and design iterations through his department while making sure that the developers have been briefed with clear mockups, prototypes and design. He always had bright ideas to improve the application and was keen to take the extra mile necessary to achieve those enhancements. I hope to have a chance to work with him in the future.
