I’m trying my wings on all venues of creativity, so as an avid reader, it was inevitable that I’ll end up trying my hand at writing too. I had a complex story forming in my head for many years, so at one point, after taking some creative writing masterclasses, I got to it.
I tried multiple writing programs, but complex stories can too easily get out of hand and in each program I missed something. When I realised that what I’m missing is are generally the atomic based design systems I use everyday in my work, I knew I’m onto something.
The problem was that Sketch, Figma and the rest of the graphic design software I used my systems with are not optimal for writing, I started looking for interfaces that are optimal for writers of various experience, that’s how I ended up taking a good look at twitter as the closest tool that – in an ideal world – could be the perfect tool. Imagine using @ and # to autopopulate your research and data on characters and objects in your story.
So I set out on my mission, created the initial concept pages and started recruiting people for workshops and 1:1 interviews. After talking to fellow authors, I was surprised that many of them felt the same, so I started fleshing out a concept for an app that would help us keep track on story particulars, enable collaborative storytelling and include a toolset for distraction free research at the same time. I got raging positive feedback so I continued with the interviews and iterated the flows and functions until I knew that I had the perfect release candidate for an MVP. I did some research and decided with Flutter as the tech stack, then recruited a talented Flutter developer team from Asia.
Currently both the desktop and mobile apps are under development and en-route to be released early July under my guidance. The landing page recruits the starting user base with an 37% efficiency from our organic traffic, while our twitter provides us with a whopping 15% conversion from our follower base.
